Privacy policy

The short version: AppLanes collects no data — nothing to sell, share, or breach. Here is the long version.

Effective July 13, 2026 · This policy covers the AppLanes macOS app

1. The short version

AppLanes runs entirely on your Mac. It has no sign-up, no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no servers of its own. It never logs your traffic and never decrypts it — it only routes it. There is no data for us to collect, so we collect none. The app’s App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected.”

2. Data the app collects

None. AppLanes requires no account or sign-in and has no backend. We have no database of users because we have no user data — we could not identify you even if we wanted to.

3. How the app handles your network traffic

AppLanes uses a macOS network system extension (a transparent proxy) to route each app’s connections through your VPN, directly, or to block them. Everything happens on your Mac — your traffic is never sent to, through, or via any server operated by us.

We never decrypt your traffic. AppLanes does not perform TLS/SSL interception, does not install certificates, and never reads the content of your connections. Encrypted traffic passes through exactly as it arrived.

We never log your traffic. To apply your rules and show the live activity feed, the extension looks only at connection metadata (which app, which destination). That information exists in memory while the app runs, is shown only to you, and is never written to a log, stored, transmitted, or shared with anyone. Quit the app and it’s gone.

4. Data stored on your Mac

Your routing rules and preferences are stored locally in the app’s own container, and nowhere else. Deleting the app deletes them.

5. Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the Mac App Store. We never see your name, payment details, or Apple ID. Apple’s handling of purchase data is described in Apple’s own privacy policy.

6. Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws)

Because the app collects and stores no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, delete, or port — and nothing we could ever sell or share. If you believe we hold any data about you, contact us and we will respond promptly.

7. Children’s privacy

AppLanes does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children — there is no mechanism by which it could.

8. This website

This site exists to host information about the app, including this policy. It sets no cookies and has no sign-in. It is hosted on Vercel, which provides privacy-friendly, cookie-less aggregate page-view analytics (no cross-site tracking, no personal profiles), and its fonts are served by Google Fonts under Google’s privacy policy.

Waitlist. If you join the launch waitlist, the email address you submit is stored via Google Forms (under Google’s privacy policy) and used for one purpose: emailing you about the AppLanes launch. It is never sold or shared, and it is deleted on request — email us and it’s gone.

9. Changes

If this policy ever changes — for example, if we add optional crash reporting — we will update this page and note the change in the app’s release notes before it takes effect.
